Position Overview
A GCS Teacher serves as an integral member of the Geneseo CSD team, supporting the district’s mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and high-quality educational environment. This position requires commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement in service of student success.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform duties aligned with district goals, policies, and New York State regulations.
  • Support and promote a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring alignment with student needs and goals.
  • Use multiple sources of student data (e.g., progress monitoring, assessments, behavioral data) to inform instructional decisions, evaluate IEP goal progress, and adjust supports and services accordingly.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations, modifications, and supports are effectively implemented.
  • Implement and/or support high-quality instructional practices that actively engage students, foster curiosity and creativity, and develop future-ready skills.
  • Utilize data, feedback, and professional judgment to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting as required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience and in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Elementary School CounselorElementary School Counselor

Position Overview
The Elementary School Counselor is a key member of the school community, responsible for supporting the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of all students. This role focuses on fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment while delivering a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district priorities and New York State standards.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform duties aligned with district goals, policies, and New York State regulations, including implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program.
  • Support and promote a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families.
  • Implement and support developmentally appropriate counseling practices that engage students, foster curiosity, build resilience, and promote future-ready skills.
  • Provide individual and small group counseling to address students’ social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.
  • Deliver classroom-based lessons that support social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and character development.
  • Use multiple sources of student data (e.g., attendance, behavioral data, academic performance, screening tools) to identify needs, monitor progress, and inform interventions and supports.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement strategies that improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including MTSS/RTI, CSE/504, and crisis response teams, to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of counseling services, student interactions, and required reports.
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to support student development and well-being.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in professional development and remain current with best practices in school counseling and social-emotional learning.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and response as needed.
  • Support school-wide initiatives that promote a positive school climate and student wellness.
  • Attend meetings, events, and activities as required or assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or designee.
