Job Description

Geneseo Central School District is seeking a dynamic individual who is a team player, highly qualified and responsible for the efficient management of the transportation facilities, supervision over the transportation system, bus drivers, bus attendants, and automotive mechanics.  Duties also include occasionally driving a school bus.

Job Qualifications

Strong knowledge of standard transportation methods and of the operation of buses; knowledge of autmoative repair methods and of the terminology and tools of the trade ability; ability tp lan work for self and others; knowledge of general repairs required for school transportation equipment; ability to learn to generate necessary reports; dependability; ability to get along well with others; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan and schedule activities; ability to instruct others; tact and courtesy, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

• Proficient in Transfinder and VersaTrans
• Prepares time schedules for buses
• Determines bus routes
• Supervises loading and determines stopping places for buses
• Prepares all State transportation reports and maps of bus routes
• Maintain a record of mileage, number of pupils carried and number of stops made on each route
• Prepares the transportation department budget and manages expenditures
• Approves worked orders for school mechanics and outside garages
• Arranges special bus trips including those for athletic teams
• Maintains time records of bus drivers for payroll purposes
• Ensures close communication with local and state highway department supervisors.  Works collaboratively with them and school officials to determine safe road conditions.
