| Teaching Assistant MS/HS | Teaching Assistant | Position Overview The Teaching Assistant supports the instructional program and overall learning environment by working under the direction of a certified teacher. This role is essential in helping to ensure all students have access to a safe, inclusive, and engaging educational experience that promotes academic growth and social-emotional development. Major Responsibilities - Perform duties aligned with district goals, policies, and New York State regulations under the guidance of a certified teacher.
- Support and promote a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families.
- Provide instructional support to individuals and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
- Reinforce learning concepts, skills, and strategies introduced by the teacher.
- Support the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and behavioral strategies to meet diverse student needs, including those outlined in IEPs and 504 plans.
- Assist with classroom management, transitions, and maintaining an orderly and productive learning environment.
- Utilize data, feedback, and guidance from the teacher to support student learning and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and administrators.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
Other Responsibilities - New York State Teaching Assistant certification (Level I, II, III, or Pre-Professional) or eligibility for certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement per NYS regulations).
- Ability to work effectively with children and adults in a collaborative environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Additional Information - Salary: Commensurate with experience and in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement.
